Corporate Doesn’t Have to Be Beige: Why Visual Summaries Make Events Actually Memorable

Corporate doesn’t have to be beige. And neither does your event. Somewhere along the way, the word “professional” became code for:
tiny text
endless slide decks
and a room full of people quietly switching off
But here’s my (slightly spicy) opinion:
People don’t remember slides - they remember meaning
Let’s be honest. People don’t remember:
slide 36
bullet point 9
“as per my previous email”
They do remember:
meaning
moments
clarity
And that’s the difference between an event that’s simply delivered and one that actually lands.
The real goal of a conference, workshop or strategy day isn’t to get through the agenda. It’s to make sure the ideas stick.
Why Visual Summaries Change How Events Land...
This is why I’m such a big believer in visual summaries and live sketchnoting.
When ideas are captured visually, something shifts:
Attention goes up – people stay engaged for longer
Understanding goes up – complex ideas become easier to follow
Sharing goes up – visuals get reused instead of forgotten
Clarity improves – “So what are we doing next?” becomes much clearer
Visual summaries turn information into a story people can see, not just hear once and forget.
Visual Sketchnoting Isn’t Decoration - It’s Strategy!
Choosing live sketchnoting or post-event visual summaries isn’t about making things “look nice”.
It’s a strategic choice.
It shows that your organisation values:
clarity over clutter
connection over noise
creativity over corporate beige
In a slide-saturated, AI-heavy world, hand-drawn visuals signal something different. They say: We care about people. We care about understanding. We want this to matter.
Making Events Memorable (In a Good Way)
I love working with teams who care deeply about how their ideas land - not just how much content they can squeeze in. Teams who want their events to feel:
thoughtful
human
engaging
genuinely memorable
Whether it’s a conference, workshop, leadership session or strategy day, visual summaries help turn “that was nice” into “that actually changed something.”
